Meet Dr. LaDronka

Hi, I'm Dr. LaDronka...

If you don't know me yet, let me introduce myself a little. I was born and raised in Michigan and have lived in the Greater Lansing area for almost twenty years. I currently live in a neighborhood near the REO Town area of Lansing with my husband, two kids, two dogs, a cat, two rabbits, four chickens and some fish. We love Lansing and are committed to being a part of our community.

I graduated from the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013. After graduation I spend some time doing graduate research on the epidemiology of a cow virus (bovine leukemia virus). I enjoyed the research, but soon realized that I actually like people more than data and missed interacting with farmers and pet owners. So I quit my PhD program and went to work at a small animal hospital in south west Michigan. I loved that practice, the staff and other doctors, and my patients and clients there. They had a real heart for being a part of the community there and lived out that vision, but it wasn't my community. I was still commuting from Lansing. When it was time to move on, I set out to open my own practice in the Lansing area. And in the fall of 2021, I founded Neighborhood Veterinary Primary care with a vision of increasing access to the benefits of the human animal bond to all of our neighbors in the Greater Lansing area.

I have a Master's in Public Health as well as my veterinary degree and I'm interested in how human and animal health are interconnected, especially the many benefits of the human-animal bond for both the person and the pet. I'm also interested in pain management, nutrition and weight management, geriatric care, and hospice and end-of-life care. An animal's life is never long enough, and yet I find a lot of meaning and purpose in being able to be there with my patients and their families to the end. I'm also working on becoming Fear Free certified to make the veterinary experience a more positive experience for my patients. I see it as my job to not just treat animal disease, but to support my clients as well as my patients in a way that builds up the bond between them.
