Practice Policies
Services Provided
Neighborhood Veterinary Primary Care is a house-call service providing primary care veterinary services only. Primary care is considered to include routine wellness care and vaccinations, minor non-urgent illness or injury, long term management of chronic conditions, and hospice/end-of-life care. As such we do not provide surgical, dental, specialty or emergency/urgent care services. If any of these services are deemed necessary for your pet, we will gladly refer you to the practice of your choice or recommend a practice that provides these services. If you are unsure if your pets' needs would be considered primary care, you may contact Neighborhood Vet by email, text, or phone and we will do our best to help you make this determination, however if you believe your pet to be in need of emergency/urgent care please do not wait to hear back from us but proceed directly to the nearest emergency veterinary hospital.
Animal Handling
Neighborhood Vet is a house-call service and as such we do not have all of the facilities, equipment, or staff that would be available at a full-service veterinary hospital. A typical visit will occur in your home with the veterinarian and no additional staff. Pet owners will often be asked to provide some minor assistance with handling their own animals. There should always be a responsible adult owner present at any visit for this purpose. If at any point your pet is fearful, anxious, painful, aggressive, or difficult to handle for any other reason, and either the veterinarian deems the situation unsafe or you as the pet owner are not comfortable handling your pet, the visit or procedure will be discontinued. In this case we would either make appropriate adjustments to the treatment plan (such as premedication and additional staff) and try again at a later date, or we would recommend your pet be seen elsewhere.
Payment
Neighborhood Vet, at this time, is operating with a Pay-What-You're-Able pricing model in order to be able to serve all of our neighbors. What this means for you is that you will receive an invoice for the value of goods and services provided. Payment is expected upon receipt of the invoice. If you're reasonably able to pay the invoice amount, please do so. If you are not reasonably able to pay the invoice amount, you may choose to pay less - you are still expected to make a payment, but you determine what you're reasonably able to pay. If you are able to pay more than the invoice amount and want to help, you may choose to pay more - any amount over the invoice amount will be used to subsidize costs for others who may be unable to pay the full amount.
